WELCOME PARENTS
In 2006 Rapid Run Middle School was recognized as a National
PTA School of Excellence for Parent and Family Involvement. This recognition
is based on the PTA’s National Standards for Family-School Partnerships
listed below. We have 100% teacher membership in the RRMS PTA. Our PTA
is dedicated to serving each of our students and their families. We
encourage all of our parents to join the PTA and to serve as a volunteer.
Working together we can ensure that all of our students are achieving
at high levels and growing to their full potential.
Standard 1: Welcoming all families into the school
community—Families are active participants in the life of the school,
and feel welcomed, valued, and connected to each other, to school staff,
and to what students are learning and doing in class.
Standard 2: Communicating effectively—Families and
school staff engage in regular, two-way, meaningful communication about
student learning.
Standard 3: Supporting student success—Families and
school staff continuously collaborate to support students’ learning
and healthy development both at home and at school, and have regular
opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills to do so effectively.
Standard 4: Speaking up for every child—Families are
empowered to be advocates for their own and other children, to ensure
that students are treated fairly and have access to learning opportunities
that will support their success.
Standard 5: Sharing power—Families and school staff
are equal partners in decisions that affect children and families and
together inform, influence, and create policies, practices, and programs.
Standard 6: Collaborating with community—Families and
school staff collaborate with community members to connect students,
families, and staff to expanded learning opportunities, community services,
and civic participation.
Oak Hills seeking community input on district communications
Community members in the Oak Hills Local School District are encouraged to participate in an electronic survey to determine the effectiveness of current communications practices. The survey was created in Survey Monkey, which enables users to create their own Web-based opinion polls. The Oak Hills poll seeks information on familiarity and interest in various communication tools used in the district.
Parents can access the survey by clicking on the link below. “We want to ensure that we are making the best use of our resources to communicate messages to parents and other stakeholders in a timely manner,” said Gina Gentry-Fletcher, district Communications Coordinator. “It is an easy way to engage the community – to connect with them, and use their feedback as a valuable resource for improvement.”
Participation will be open until August 31. For access, go to: www.surveymonkey.com/s/oakhillscommunications
Attention All Middle School Parents and Students!
Kuder Career Planning System
6th - 12th grade students in Oak Hills Local Schools use the Kuder Career Planning System to learn about themselves, explore occupations, and prepare for various options leading into and after high school. An important feature of this system is that it allows parents to play an active role in their child's future planning process. National polls tell us that parents influence their children's choices about education in and after high school and about their work more than anyone else!
Connie Shank of Kuder Inc.will be at Rapid Run Middle School on Thursday, October 7th from 12:00 to 1:00pm and 7:00-8:00pm to share the features of the Kuder Career Planning System with all interested middle school parents. She will show parents how to login and view their students progress and share activities that parents can do with their children to help them develop and reach their hopes and dreams for the future.
