BRIDGETOWN CLUBS AND ACTIVITIES


Art Club

Art Club this year will meet monthly on Tuesdays. The club is for anyone with a sincere interest and enthusiasm about art. This year will be having field trips as well as guest speakers. Our format  will work more as a workshop, where each month a different style, media, technique or process will be offered. Students will sign up in advance for the workshop. Topics may include jewelry, wheel-thrown pottery, comics,  and calligraphy. All grade levels are welcome!

7th Grade Video Club

This club is dedicated to creating video presentations as part of two of the eighth grade's most important traditions, Camp Joy and the End-of-Year Celebration. Following our trip to Camp Joy, we will create a video that will highlight all the fun the students had at Camp Joy. The club will also create a tribute video that is shown at the End-of-Year Celebration. It will commemerates all the wonderful memories the students have had at Bridgetown as they move on to the high school.

The teacher advisor is Ms. Lingo.

Photoshop Club

Students that are interested in Art and into computers will love this club! The Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 program is in the lab at BMS and available to all students that are creative, patient and willing to learn new things. This program is introduced in Multi-media Art class but all students are welcome to come and experience it after school. We will create graphic art work made by using a computer and be able to print color versions of your creations! The club meeting days will be every Monday.

Athletics

Bridgetown offers a multitude of sporting teams for our 7th and 8th graders to participate on. Many of these teams are open to all who are willing to practice and try hard. There are three seasons of sports throughout the year: fall, winter, and spring.

Foreign Club

This is a club open to all eighth graders taking a foreign language. This club studies the cultures of other countries. This year they will make scarves representing other countries and serve a dinner of food from other countries.

The teacher advisors are Frau Schott and Senora Smith

Runner's Club

This club is open to all interested sixth graders. Running Club is great preparation for student athletes who are interested in being on the track or cross-country team in their seventh and eighth grade year.

Bobcat Builder's Club

We are a student service organization that is partnered by the Oak Hills Kiwanis Club. The club is open to all students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade. We meet monthly on the second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 2:30-3:30 in the Large Group Instruction room.

Our activities are planned by the students and are designed to help or assist others in the school and local community.

Game's Club

The Games Club is a group of students who come to the Library Media Center after school once a week to play games like Magic, Mage Knight, Yu-Gi-Oh, and chess. This year the club meets every Wednesday from 2:30 - 3:30.

Student Council

Students with a great love for the activities in Bridgetown are the members of student council. Students are chosen on a yearly basis by their teachers to participate. These students make many of the important decisions that impact the student population. Some of their major activities include: Sprit Week and Pep Rallys, Penny Wars, and Teacher Torture

Teacher Advisors are Ms. McKnight and Mrs. Linenkugel.

Bridgettes

These 7th and 8th grade girls are our dance team. They spend a great deal of their time developing and practicing their routines. They receive standing ovations when they perform at football games and pep rallys.

National Junior Honor Society

It is an organization devoted to service, academics, and leadership. Students are chosen in the seventh grade based on their grade point average, teacher recomendation, and participation extra-curricular activities. Throughout their eighth grade year, members do service work at Bridgetown and in the community. Some of their major activities include: Bobcat Bounty, a Thanksgiving-time food drive, making and serving dinner to local firefighters, and playing Bingo with the elderly at Hillebrand Nursing home.

Yearbook

These students photograph and layout our annual yearbook. Any student who is interested may participate.

Cheerleaders

This hard-working group includes seventh and eighth graders. These girls perform at many sporting events and pep rallys. They are the leaders in school spirit and often create signs to hang around the school about our wonderful sports teams.

The teacher advisor is Mrs. Klosterman.

Peer Mentoring

This program provides students the opportunity to interact socially with positive peer role models. Students are recommended for this program to be mentors or mentees. The main goal of the program is to guide students in the right direction and help them have a sense of belonging at BMS. This Program addresses areas, such as: social interactions, solid academics, and responsible behavior. The group will have weekly meetings during advisory, one or two field trips, and attend after school activities as a group, for example attending the BMS musical.
